March Meeting Recaps and Updates

On Friday, March 13, 26 interested neighbors convened at Easter Seals Crossroads for the first organizing meeting of the Keystone-Monon Community Garden. As everyone introduced themselves, relationships were made when people recognized those who live on their street and started putting faces to names. It was an overwhelmingly positive experience to hear from people who have an interest and gardening and want to meet their neighbors.

Provided at each meeting are copies of the agenda, copies of the Arsenal Park proposal, and a mission questionnaire. Please use these links to read meeting minutes for:

The group is currently forming a mission statement based on group consensus – what the residents of the Keystone Monon community want and need from a shared growing space.

The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 10 at Easter Seals Crossroads from 6:45 PM to 8:30 PM where we will gather for the spring seed swap and next organizing meeting. We will finalize our mission statement and begin identifying work groups – or who wants to do what!

Please feel welcome to bring children, family and friends who are or aren’t inside the Keystone Monon neighborhood. If you have a desire to learn gardening or have experience to share, do come!

Are you interested in getting involved, but aren’t able to make our next meeting this Friday, 4/10? Let us know what you’d like to do!

Email us at KMCommunityGarden@gmail.com or reply here and let us know which work groups you’d like to be a part of: Fundraising, Garden Planning and Design, Volunteer Management, and Education. Or reach out to us on Facebook.

This is your chance to put to good use skills you already have and your chance to jump in and learn something new, too. If you’re interested in garden design or volunteer management, for instance, but don’t know a thing about it, this is a great way to learn!

We look forward to seeing you there!
